How to prepare a carpet or upholstery cleaning request

For a carpet, upholstery, rug, mattress or tile-cleaning request, list each room or item, approximate size, fibre or care label if known, visible stains and access needs. DeepSteam describes truck-mounted cleaning across Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Burlington and Grimsby, with its recorded base in Hamilton. See its published cleaning services on DeepSteam’s website.

What to include in the request

Mention recent spills, prior cleaning, odours and any cleaning products already used. For an upholstered item, the care label can help identify restrictions, but the business still has to assess the fabric and construction. Move fragile objects only if you can do so safely and ask what should be cleared before a visit.

Describe each surface and its condition

  • For carpet, name the rooms and approximate dimensions. For rugs, mattresses or upholstery, identify the item and size.
  • Record care-label details if available, along with stains, odours and where they appear.
  • List cleaning products or treatments already used and whether the issue returned afterward.
  • Note stairs, parking, building access and whether fragile items or furniture need to be moved.

Before a cleaning visit

Ask the business what it wants moved or cleared, whether it needs to inspect a care label, and how long an area should remain unused after service. Those answers depend on the surface and method it selects. See the DeepSteam profile for listed services and coverage.
