Every figure below is a published estimator range from our sister site, Hamilton Home Costs: a typical Hamilton job, mid-range materials, standard access, HST excluded. They are not quotes, and they are not our partners' prices. They exist so you can tell a fair quote from a bad one before the first phone call.
Two trades are missing from that table on purpose. Carpet and upholstery cleaning has no published range we are willing to stand behind, and full kitchen and bathroom renovations vary so much with what moves that a single range would mislead more than it helps. When our partners' own price sheets are verified, they get published on the partner pages, dated, and this table gets a second column.
Which trade do you actually need
Some jobs sit on a line between two trades, and picking the wrong one costs you a wasted visit.
- New floor going in during a renovation. If walls, plumbing or the layout are also changing, start with renovations and let the general contractor sequence the flooring. If the floor is the whole job, go straight to flooring.
- A basement. Finishing an unfinished basement is a renovation with a City permit. Putting new floor into an already finished basement is flooring.
- A garage door that will not open. That is repair, not replacement, until a technician says otherwise. Springs and cables fail far more often than doors do.
- Carpet that looks past saving. Book cleaning first. It is a fraction of the cost of replacement and it answers the question. If it comes up short, the flooring partner is one form away.
- Anything commercial or industrial. Not us. 905 Trades is residential only, deliberately.
